The Zehetmair Quartet, founded in 1994 by Thomas Zehetmair, is one of the most respected string quartets in the world. It is known for its uncompromising clarity, exceptional expressiveness and innovative programming. This evening, too, they have a top programme in store: a real gem, the wonderfully colourful second quartet by the greatest Polish composer of the 20th century, Karol Szymanowski, is framed by Schubert’s passionate yet enigmatic »Quartettsatz« and Tchaikovsky’s powerful third string quartet, which is dedicated to the memory of the Czech composer and violinist Ferdinand Laubs.
