Welcome to St. Thomas à Becket

We warmly invite everyone to get to know the English Church in Hamburg. We are one of the oldest Anglican congregations outside of England. The congregation was founded in 1611 by a merchant guild, the Merchant Adventurers. The present church at Zeughausmarkt was consecrated on November 11, 1838, after its construction. It was named after St. Thomas à Becket, the patron saint of the Merchant Adventurers, after its reopening following the war in 1947.
