Binge-watching, but in real life . On September 5, 2026, Hamburg will once again become a stage: at the 22nd Hamburg Theatre Night .

Morality is a thing of the past. Today it's punk. What happens when youthful idealism collides with midlife? "The Insurgents" tells the story of three women who, caught between everyday life and retirement planning, found a revolutionary cell. Andrea, Jasmin, and Iris wonder where their youthful fighting spirit has gone. Their answer: "Let's just do it now!" Their greatest advantage is their total inconspicuousness. A darkly humorous plea for a late-blooming awakening.

They are fast, flamboyant, and unpredictable. These daring improvisational performers take to the stage without knowing what will happen. They have no script, no props, no director. Based on suggestions from the audience, scenes are created spontaneously, each one unique.

Works by young artists from the Erika Klütz School are the focus of this program curated by Suse Tietjen for Hamburg's Theatre Night. The program includes a solo, a duet, a research project, and two group choreographies. Spanning contemporary dance and dance theatre, the works offer diverse perspectives – from reflections on dance history to questions of echo, resonance, time, and envy. The research project also provides insight into the artistic process behind one of the works in Exit Like an Animal Vol. 2, which will premiere at Hamburger Sprechwerk in April 2027.
