A mysterious treasure - the prayer book of Duke Johann Albrecht I of Mecklenburg
December 23 marks the 500th anniversary of the birth of Mecklenburg's most important Renaissance prince. Reason enough to take a closer look at a little-known, precious object in his possession: a richly illuminated manuscript that brings together important illuminations that originally did not belong together.
Dr. Brigitte Pfeil, Head of Special Collections at Kassel University Library, presents the manuscript, its paintings and, last but not least, its eventful history, which in parts resembles an art thriller.
