With rousing enthusiasm, expressive images and infectious dance sequences, Nowhere is a place/ Nulle part est un endroit is a tribute to the dance style of krumping. Krump originated in the Afro-American community of Los Angeles in the early 1990s as a form of danced resistance against social inequality and discrimination. This powerful dance serves as a creative outlet as well as a means of expression for what concerns and moves the dancers. In this danced lecture performance, choreographer Anne-Marie Van (also known as Nach) explores the origins, meaning and community of krumping. Combining her own artistic practice with archive material and research, she recounts battles, freestyle sessions and the intense energy of this unique dance culture.
