Mischpoke

World Music
Elbphilharmonie (Kleiner Saal), Hamburg

Mischpoke is a klezmer band from Hamburg that has long since gained an international audience. Anyone who experiences the electrifying performance of these five strong artistic personalities immediately feels the collective live energy that sets hearts and hips vibrating.

With »Tsukunft«, Mischpoke consistently continues its unmistakable sound of klezmer, jazz, world music, and classical music—and deliberately looks ahead. Traditional material is transformed and developed into an open, cross-genre sound language in which virtuosity, joy of playing, and tonal curiosity playfully intertwine.

Whether in a small club or the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Mischpoke draws the audience into a maelstrom of driving rhythms, poetic lyrics, delicate timbres, and unbridled improvisation.

Mischpoke’s music is rooted in Jewish culture—a cultural context that is repeatedly interpreted politically in current debates. This makes it all the more important for the band to create a musical space in which diversity, contrasts, and friction are not seen as opposites, but as energy: lively, productive, and connecting.
