The wife of a school principal feels threatened by her husband's impending retirement. After 35 years together, their relationship has long since become frozen in cold routine. The drama dissects the life of this couple with laconic precision. The dialogues and situations initially carry a quiet comedy, but soon dark omens begin to multiply. A tragic accident then imposes an overly dramatic twist on the bleakness.
