Haydn-Orchester Hamburg / Alexey Botvinov
The Haydn Orchestra Hamburg is now one of the best non-professional orchestras in northern Germany. Founded in 1977, it has been conducted by Rida Murtada since 2003. It performs twice a year at the Laeiszhalle. From chamber orchestra to symphony orchestra – in the early years, the name said it all: Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Georg Philipp Telemann, George Frideric Handel, Arcangelo Corelli. With a current membership of 90 musicians, the orchestra has grown to such an extent that its program now includes the great symphonies and concertos of the 19th and early 20th centuries, such as works by Johannes Brahms, Ludwig van Beethoven, Anton Bruckner, Robert Schumann, and Hector Berlioz.
