Hamburg Sustainability Week (over 150 events throughout Hamburg)

Hamburg Sustainability Week is a series of events focused on sustainable development in Hamburg. With the motto “We’re shaping the future. Together,” initiatives, organizations, companies, and institutions across the city will open their doors from June 26 to July 3, 2026, for discussions, workshops, and hands-on activities.

In addition to the Nachhaltigkeits-Werkstatt on July 1 at the Handelskammer Hamburg, one of this year’s many highlights is the event taking place at Hamburg’s Rathausmarkt from June 29 to July 1. The "Future Garden” will create a central gathering place in one of the city’s most visited locations. A mix of lectures and panels, culture and cuisine, hands-on activities and discussions, as well as a live stream of the concurrently held Hamburg Sustainability Conference at City Hall, invite visitors to explore and linger. Various Hamburg-based initiatives, organizations, companies, and other stakeholders are on board.

The goal is to make sustainability visible and tangible in the everyday lives of Hamburg’s residents and to advance the local implementation of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The events will take place throughout Hamburg and invite citizens to learn more, join the discussion, and contribute their own ideas.

As part of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference taking place in Hamburg, Hamburg Sustainability Week thus serves as a bridge between the international discourse and Hamburg’s urban community. It translates global sustainability issues into local projects, encounters, and concrete action on the ground.
