Classical Music
Elbphilharmonie (Kleiner Saal), Hamburg

With this intriguing programme title for a concert, Ukrainian pianist Svetlana Andreeva invites us to join her on a journey to unearth her musical other self through total immersion in the music she loves. Her artistic persona, on the other hand, has been crystal clear ever since her formidable victory at the Concours International de Piano d’Orléans in 2024. The competition is dedicated to music of the 20th and 21st centuries which is Andreeva’s greatest passion and where she feels musically most at home. She studied composition as well as piano and will be focusing almost exclusively on works from the early 20th century. You can expect to be drawn into the introspective fog of Janacek’s »In the Mists«, catch a brief glimpse behind the »Masks« of Karol Szymanowski and experience spiritual extremes from hell to redemption in Scriabin’s »Black Mass« and »White Mass« as the music transports you to the boundaries of conscious thought and beyond.
