Alexander Scheer singt David Bowie

Pop
Laeiszhalle (Großer Saal), Hamburg

With »Heroes«, Alexander Scheer, one of the country's most prominent actors and musicians, together with his magnificent band, brings a stage show on tour that sheds new light on David Bowie's musical work with a grandiose performance. Scheer approaches Bowie's creative world in a special way: not only as a pure homage, but also as a personal experience that connects Bowie's music with literature, which is essential to him.

The basis for the»Heroes« program is a list published by Bowie himself of the 100 books that have had a special influence on his life and music. From Homer's Iliad to Dante's Inferno, from classics of world literature and cultural studies writings on soul and funk to the Berlin novels Berlin Alexanderplatz by Alfred Döblin and Reflections on Christa T. by Christa Wolf—David Bowie's previously little-known literary cosmos opens up a new perspective on his musical work. Alexander Scheer and his band follow these traces and weave the texts with Bowie's songs, opening windows and drawing unexpected connections.

The evening takes us back to West Berlin, where Bowie lived between 1976 and 1978 and created some of his most important albums, including »Heroes«. And he reveals, almost in passing, where the famous dolphins in this song come from.
