Woyzeck

Woyzeck

Play with music for ages 14 and up based on Georg Büchner

Three chairs, a tailor's dummy and two actors. Nils Höddinghaus and Julian Dietz dare to tackle Georg Büchner's "Woyzeck" with reduced means. Rapid role changes and music are characteristic of this production, which focuses on Woyzeck: Who was he and what external circumstances made him a murderer?

Voices are looped over each other and dark beats, distorted guitar sounds, scraps of speech and noises intensify, driving the plot forward and making the protagonist's madness palpable. Since its premiere at Theater Itzehohe in September 2022, the play has been performed with great success in front of numerous school classes. Woyzeck has been central exam material since 2022.
