Sophia, death and me

Sophia, death and me

by Thees Uhlmann in a stage version by Patrick Wengenroth

"Me: Can I ask you a few questions?
Death: I'd love to. I hardly ever get to talk otherwise."

What if one day - as unexpected as it can be - Death rings the doorbell and says: "Come with me now"? For the ego in musician Thees Uhlmann's acclaimed debut novel, the surprising first contact with the messenger of the afterlife is followed by a funny and touching story about human imperfection and what is really important in life. Or could be. After all, Uhlmann's ego is not transported into the unknown space behind the final door as quickly as Death had imagined, applying his usual three-minute rule. There is still a lot to discuss: Love and friendship, questions of faith and other existential topics. A stunning exchange of blows between Death, the ego and ex-girlfriend Sophia, who suddenly appears at the door, leads the three of them on a wonderfully weird road trip.

Musician Thees Uhlmann has tackled a seemingly serious topic with northern German humor - and promptly landed a bestseller. After Ab jetzt ist Ruhe, Nachdenken über Christa T/Störfall, Utopia, meinetwegen and the successful productions Gundermann - Männer, Frauen und Maschinen and Der Räuber Hotzenplotz, Patrick Wengenroth (director) and Matze Kloppe (music) are bringing their sixth joint project with live music to the stage in Schwerin with Sophia, der Tod und ich.
