History hike to the Nesow camp memorial site

Commemoration of the end of the Second World War & the history of the Nesow refugee camp

The town is offering a history hike to the Nesow camp memorial site in cooperation with the cycling and hiking enthusiasts. The quarantine and reception camp in Nesow existed from 1946 until the 1970s. At times, up to 4,000 resettlers lived there after the Second World War, most of them Catholic refugees from northern Bohemia and Silesia. The historian Christoph Wunnicke will explain the history of the former Nesow camp on site and commemorate the end of the Second World War. Renate Schlatow will accompany the hike from Rehna Monastery to the Nesow camp memorial site and back. Afterwards there will be coffee and cake in the courtroom of the monastery complex.
