The popular Hanseatic Festival offers many exciting activities and hands-on opportunities, with something for everyone, young and old. Open-air boat trips on the Ewer Margareta, tours on the historic bathing boat Margarethe, and guided tours through the historic town center. Buxtehude was once part of the Hanseatic League and applied to regain the title of Hanseatic City in 2013. In 2014, the Lower Saxony
Interior Minister Boris Pistorius (again) awarded Buxtehude the title “Hanseatic City”.
