Dance of Pain and Healing
Ritual Dance Weekend Workshop with Stephanie Bangoura and Massa Dembélé
Look forward to a dance jam to get a taste, and optionally, the whole weekend full of dance experiences, where you will be supported by the group and powerful live music. In this live event, you can feel yourself, express, and let go. You will learn simple movements from West African dance, which will help you find more grounding and alignment.
Friday: 18:00-21:00 Dance Jam
Saturday: 10:00-18:00
Sunday: 10:00-15:00
Each dance workshop addresses an archetypal emotion. In the dance ritual, we create a protected space together in which emotions can be experienced and reflected upon in a self-determined way.
As humans, we are masters at avoiding unpleasant feelings and sensations, numbing them or distracting ourselves from them. This suppression serves as a form of protection and happens in many ways – but it costs energy. Unacknowledged pain gains power and is directed against ourselves and others.
The group and live music provide support to turn towards our pain. By doing so, we can perceive the power and message of the pain. Controlled encounters with pain lead to more aliveness, depth, and presence.
We practice appreciation, openness, and acceptance of everything that is. This fosters self-awareness and self-healing.
As always in Ritual Dance Pedagogy, all bodies and levels of dance experience are welcome.
Registration is highly encouraged!
30 € for the Dance Jam on Friday evening
