Crime scene Schwerin

Crime scene Schwerin

by Marthe Meinhold, Marius Schötz & Ensemble / world premiere

The beer is cold, the friends have gathered, the TV is on. Sunday evening, 8:15 pm: It's Tatort time! The popular crime series has been thrilling millions of viewers for decades - now it's finally coming to Schwerin. The living room itself becomes the scene of minor and major crimes. With a lust for murder, the young detectives throw themselves into a convoluted case in a city that has a lot to hide behind its fog. Only one thing is certain: something is wrong here. With plenty of humor and song, a search for the truth begins in which every stone is turned over and no cliché is left out. But who is the perpetrator here, who is the victim?

In the works of Marthe Meinhold and Marius Schötz, the boundaries between drama, opera and musical are blurred; they develop their theater evenings together with the production's ensemble. In Schwerin, they focus on the interface between evening entertainment and crime. The group's discussions and research give rise to the text of the play, which is complemented by Marius Schötz's songs to create an evening of drama with music. After working at Theater Basel, Schauspiel Stuttgart and the state theaters in Saarbrücken and Karlsruhe, among others, the premiere of Tatort Schwerin is the duo's first directorial work at the Mecklenburg-Schwerin State Theatre.
