Coco and the fashion revolution
Tuesday, 17/06/2025 / 07:00 PM - 10:00 PM / Stadtbibliothek Wismar im Zeughaus
Reading with author Lena Johannson
"Fashion is ephemeral. Style never is," said Coco Chanel, who opened her first fashion house in Paris 110 years ago. On June 17 at 7 p.m. in the city library, author Lena Johannson will read excerpts from her book: "Coco and the Fashion Revolution". Lena Johannson tells of the beginnings of the headstrong fashion designer, who wanted to give women a piece of freedom and independence with wearable and comfortable clothing.
She takes the audience to France with pictures of her research trip in the footsteps of Gabrielle Chantal, as Coco was properly known. The whole thing is garnished with an excursion into the world of fashion, which shows the audience how revolutionary Chanel's work really was, and of course in the appropriate look and with a small gift for each guest.
The evening will be rounded off with a quiz in which there are miniatures made by hand by the author to be won. A few years ago, Lena Johannson delighted the Wismar audience with her reading about the "Frauen vom Jungfernstieg". The author of numerous historical novels and biographies is known for her meticulous research and outstanding readings.
Tickets for this event reading are now available at the city library during opening hours for 8 euros in advance, with any remaining tickets available at the box office for 10 euros. Advance bookings can be made on 03841 251 4020 or stadtbibliothek@wismar.de
